2018 First Wednesday in Lent
Following Jesus, Being Called….But where?
Scripture: John 14:4-5
What is our mission field at Atonement?
What do we know about it?
How do we enter that field?
Comments from table discussions:
Society is every-changing and so are our neighborhoods. We are no longer in a world of white, married couples with kids.
Women are working as much as men. Is there a way to serve families?
Snowbirds deplete numbers of those who are not working.
Welcoming is a very big deal. We share the heart of God with folks.
Outreach to the elderly.
Bible study so that we can learn more of God.
Our mission outreach includes: quilts, meals on wheels, food shelf, Feed my Starving Children, care kits, Habitat for Humanity, SPDR St Philips, Kings Kids, God’s Work our Hands, Isaiah, Solar for the World, charitable giving through ELCA and St. Paul Synod, Youth Mission Trip.
God’s mission includes: reach out and grow his family to serve the world. Local not international, spreading love as individuals.
Share our building.
In Senior housing nearby, the housebound and lonely need purpose.
Our mission field is everyone we deal with daily.
We know that people are hungry to be heard and cared for, for meaning. Majority of people don’t have faith/spiritual home and consider Christians rigid and not loving.
So much competition for time out there. How do we help people know how to give some time to their deep spiritual needs?
